Tokamachi is one of Japan's leading kimono production areas, with a textile industry that dates back over 1,200 years and is deeply rooted in the local culture. In the spring season, you can try on a kimono at the Tokamachi Kimono Festival, see exhibitions of kimonos and fabrics, and attend various kimono-related events including kimono production tours, kimono walking tours and quilt exhibitions.

Flame-shaped pottery from the Shinano River basin and local "snow country" culture are officially recognized by the Japanese government as cultural heritage.
Other local cultural assets recognized as cultural heritage include Sasayama village ruins, excavated artifacts from the late Jomon Period, Bijinbayashi Forest, Kiyotsu Gorge and the Tashiro no Nanatsugama waterfall basins.
The characteristic flame shape of Jomon Period pottery is clearly evident.

Echigo Tsumari Art Triennale, one of the world's largest outdoor art festivals, takes place every three years in the Echigo-Tsumari region (which includes Tokamach City and Tsunan District in Niigata Prefecture). The festival presents contemporary art that expresses village values based on a "humans are part of nature" theme. Many of the works are installed outdoors for your natural enjoyment.
Beautiful rice paddies on terraced mountain slopes, loved by locals and sightseers alike, grace every season throughout the year in the Matsuyo and Matsunoyama areas of Tokamachi City.
These terraced rice paddies are recognized as one of the 100 most beautiful rural landscapes in Japan.
In Tokamachi, where rice is abundantly cultivated, autumn is the season of brilliant colors and rich harvests.
The rice paddies glow a vibrant gold, surrounded by multicolored leaves in the mountains and valleys.
Picturesque beech trees nearly 90 years old cover the hillsides.

Encompassing 12 villages along 30 kilometers of the Nakatsu River, this canyon is a colorful autumn landmark with secluded areas where the legendary Heike clan is said to have sought refuge.

Vast snowy fields decorated with colorful LED artworks present music performances and the world's largest on-snow fireworks display, which illuminates the winter night. In 2018, this event was held at our hotel as part of the Echigo Tsumari Art Triennale winter program.
